How do I get a position as a Contract Specialist in DC metro area?

I know this position is in high demand, and I know that I have the skills to be successful at the position. I have been an underwriter / credit analyst for 5 yrs for unsecured loans, both personal and small business. Underwriting requires knowledge of multiples laws, regulations, and guidelines. It requires strong communication / customer service skill in dealing with Sales reps and customers. Small business UW requires the ability to understand multiple different kinds of businesses and business models (as well as financial documentation). Credit / Portfolio analysis requires excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills. Why is no one calling me for an interview?
Also, I have a BA in International Economics and Spanish.

Have you applied to the Federal Government? usajobs.gov
What you are missing is project planning. Most of the contracts that go on in DC involve a specific project. My guess is if you have been applying and are hearing nothing, that is the problem. In particular need is IT skill…most contracts that float around DC are for IT projects. So…you need to position yourself in that arena. Good luck to you!
